Natural S. oral test (Locomotor system & circulatory system)

Here you have the questions you will be asked these days:

LOCOMOTOR SYSTEM

What is the locomotor system?

It's a system formed by the skeletal system and the muscular system. It's responsible for our movements (muscles) and our shape and structure (bones).

How are muscles attached to bones?

They are attached to bones by tendons.

How do the bones stay stuck in the joints?

Bones meet at joints, where they are held together by ligaments.

CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

What do we find in our blood?

Plasma: fluid that transports nutrients and waste.

Red blood cells carry oxygen to all the cells.

White blood cells protect the body from germs and disease.

Platelets stop bleeding from wounds

What is the heart and what is it for?

A special muscle that acts as a pump to send blood around the body

With a picture of the circulatory system explain how the circulatory system works and the difference between systemic circulation and pulmonary circulation?

In the pulmonary circulation the heart (its right side) sends the blood to the lungs to expel carbon dioxide and to obtain oxygen. Then the blood with oxygen goes back to the heart (to the left side)

In the systemic circulation the heart (its left side) pumps the blood and it travels along the circuit with nutrients and oxygen to all body parts. It also returns (to the right side) with CO2 and other waste products back to the heart.

* the sides of the heart are not necessary.
